As the current President of Alpha Kappa Psi at the University of Iowa, I invite you to learn more about our organization. Alpha Kappa Psi is the oldest and largest professional business fraternity founded on the core values of brotherhood, unity, integrity, knowledge, and service. Alpha Kappa Psi is a co-ed business fraternity open to all business majors and minors who have at least four semesters remaining at the Tippie College of Business. As a professional organization within Tippie, we pride ourselves on preparing our members for success by encouraging members to network with peers, develop professional skills, and communicate directly with a wide range of companies.

 

As a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, you will build a strong network of like-minded peers to study, socialize, and grow with! Together, our brotherhood has accomplished great things in the Tippie College of Business, throughout this university, and beyond! Our community is fully alive in the classroom, allowing our members to walk into a class and be surrounded by familiar faces with whom they can form study groups and ask questions. This brotherhood is vital in creating professional relationships and a close-knit family within Tippie.

 

With a job placement rate of 100%, Alpha Kappa Psi is recognized as the premier developer of principled business leaders. By offering unique opportunities such as private career fairs, professional trips, and networking with companies and alumni, we ensure graduating seniors a full-time job or continuity of their education through graduate school. Voted the 2021 #1 Professional Development Organization in Tippie, Alpha Kappa Psi provides countless opportunities for its members to grow! For example, members of the Executive Board are planning a professional development trip to Downtown Chicago for this spring!

 

As a chapter, we uphold 5 core values: service, knowledge, integrity, unity, and brotherhood. We ensure all members reflect the good name of Alpha Kappa Psi by displaying integrity and honesty in all they do, whether in business or in life. To enhance a sense of unity, we create shared goals for the future and work together to bring them to life. ​Alpha Kappa Psi upholds the importance of sharing time, talent, and treasure with society. Each semester, all members participate in service events within the Tippie College of Business and throughout the community. Last year, Alpha Kappa Psi was recognized at the Tippie Student Organization Award Ceremony as the “#1 Professional & Service Organization of the Year” for displaying a significant commitment to professional development and serving the Iowa City community.

 

As an organization, Alpha Kappa Psi prides itself on respecting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Each semester, we select community events that will be eye-opening for our members in displaying other cultures and ways of life. Our members attend at least six events per semester, such as a speaker from a minority-owned local business, a talk on gender in the workplace, or an asset-limited simulation activity. This semester, we are also partnering with other Tippie organizations to offer more DEI-centered events for our members to attend.

 

Alpha Kappa Psi has been the most treasured and plentiful experience of my college career! It has provided me with friends that fuel me to excel in all I do. The relationships formed in this organization go beyond academics – we are a family. A family that cares about the happiness, well-being, and success of one another. Alpha Kappa Psi has done an outstanding job of preparing me for future success, and I wish that for everyone!
