ALPHA KAPPA PSI
History
AKPsi was founded on October 5th, 1904 at New York University by the “Brooklyn Four”. The members of the “Brooklyn Four” recognized as George L. Bergen, Howard M. Jefferson, Nathan Lane Jr., and Frederic R. Leach, were attending NYU’s new School of Commerce, taking night classes to further their education. After almost every class, they had to make the walk over the Brooklyn Bridge, leading to provide the group’s name.
With strong support from the college, these four came up with the idea to make the professional business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi. Inviting six other members, the founding class of AKPsi was created.
